Wistful Wednesday: Muggy

Muggy was a Chihuahua.  He belonged to Far Guy and his family. He was mainly Far Guys Dads dog..he loved having a dog.  Far Guys Mom loved him too, but the dog would fart, he was on canned food..and that made him gaseous. Far Guys Mom would holler.. “Would someone please put the dog out?” ..Out he went,  he was tied to the clothes line much like Far Guy was when he was little.  The dog was much better at running back and forth, but the dog never learned to unhook himself and run through the neighborhood and then hook himself back up again.

History was made by this little packed full of energy and much loved Dog named Muggy.

Muggy pooped right on my foot the first time I was a guest at dinner. Far Guys Mom was so embarrassed.  Far Guys Dad apologized “I don’t know what got into that damn dog.”

Muggy would snarl and yap at me and chase me from one chair to the next in the living room. He was the only dog I have ever been a little afraid of..but then Far Guy would “sic” him on me and just laugh.

Muggy tried to delay our Wedding by pulling out one of his toenails on the basement stairs.  He had been sent to the basement because there was lots of out of town company..and Far Guys Mom didn’t want a farting dog in the living room with all the company.  I am sure she didn’t want any of the guests maimed either..one day Ray L came to the door..he knocked and went right in..and Muggy started barking and took a flying leap right toward Rays crotch and hung there growling. Again Far Guys Mom was embarrassed.

Here is one of my favorite photos of the little darling..

Muggy

Far Guys Mom was not in the kitchen..she wouldn’t allow the dog to get his germs all over the plate..or to sit at the table.

He does look like he is enjoying himself. Over the years he did learn to love me..Muggy lived a good long life.

I love looking at the “old kitchen”  the white cupboards would be replaced by oak cabinets..and the old white stove would be replaced by an avocado green one.  The copper colored canister set would go upstairs..and a set of lovely avocado green stackable ones would take up residence on the countertop.

This photo was taken in about 1966 or 1967 someone with one of those fancy instant cameras took this photo, their thumb print is off to the left:)

I am still smiling at the thought of Far Guy being hooked to a clothesline. Far Guy's mom spent a lot of time being embarrassed by that farty little dog. Funny stuff. I enjoyed reading about Muggy.

Oh my gosh, Muggy had his own little personality didn't he? My laugh for the day. And you even went back for more after the dog poop incident!!

Oh funny - would love to have seen ol Ray when that dog got him! Love her stove too - wouldn't mind having one like that now. I liked our kitchen growing up too. It was So o o o big!

Mmmmm. Maybe that a additional reason (beside hunting) why I liked labs and Goldens. Once I was hunting down an abandoned RR line when two ferocious came running out from a house barking at me like crazy... one very big and one very small. I yelled at the big one and he turned around and ran back. I ignored the little yipper, started down the track when he came up behind me and bit me in the ankle. Ferocius little buggers.... :)

Heeehehe, what a great idea...snappin' your little one to a clothesline so he won't run off!!! It's even funnier that he'd unhook and rehook himself.

I didn't find out 'till Geek Son was fully grown that he could wedge himself outta the backyard fence through a post that was against the house and get back in. What a Mom...I had no clue!

That old kitchen brings back so many memories of the kitchen I grew up in.

God bless and have a wonderful day!!!

At our vet's, it's been said that they'd rather deal with any other dog than a chihuahua. Little dogs with big attitudes!
A lot of funny stuff in that story:) I can picture the stacking avocado green cannisters, and I see an avocado green stove every time I go to my mum's.

Guess they didn't know how to train a Chi-Chi! They CAN be good dogs, if trained. I love the cupboards ... they have the handles just like mine. Mine are stained an ugly oak and I've been thinking about repainting ... I love the white!

Ha! My mom clipped my little sister to the clothesline, too. She learned pretty quickly how to get away, too.

Holy Moly, I love that photo.

Wish could train my cats to sit on a chair while eating at the table instead of climbing up on it......

Oh, those chihuahuas and their ways! I have learned to love them, but it's an acquired taste! :-)

Looking at the old kitchen, did the percolator get replaced with a Mr.Coffee?

Tell Far Guy you must really, really love him to have had that kind of initiation into his family - - and still you decided to marry him! Funny story about a dog who obviously ruled the household.

I can't stop giggling...just the image of him pooping on your foot under the table set me off. So funny! But I'm sure you were not amused at the time.

That's hilarious when you look back on it, but probably not quite so funny at the time - I'm referring to all of Muggy's japes!

Had to laugh about Far Guy being hooked to the clothesline too...

Yep, I had a high school guy I wanted to hook out on the clothesline. Love the story and Muggy was really a charmer to get by with so much.
