Whoa..What was that?

Sometimes when we are out and about..I say WHOA..what was that?  Far Guy will usually find some place to turn around and go back so that I can get a photo.

Such was the case last August.  It looks like a big vase for that huge tree that grew inside.  It is a silo made from wood. I have never seen a silo made from wood?  Have you?  This one was on the other side of Lake Belle Taine.

We were following one of those great “Rummage Sale” signs..the ones that seem to go on forever..with lots of twists and turns and yellow balloons hung in the trees before we eventually got there..where they had nothing we wanted..but I got a great photo on the way:)

I guess most of the old silos were made out of wood, and some out of brick or stone.
Obviously the roof has been gone a long time to allow a seedling to get to that great size.
There used to be one not far from us that was leaning over so far it put the tower in Pisa to shame:) It did eventually fall over though.

I have never seen anything like this? Is it possible that the tree took the roof off?

My grandparents had what they called grain houses that were these funky round or octagonal buildings filled with grain. I would always love goin' inside to 'sink' into the grain.

You my dear captured a jewel of a picture there!!!

God bless ya and have a marvelous day!

BTW: It's National Random Act of Kindness Day......pass it on...... :o)

Never have seen a wooden silo. I am curious if L.D. Burgus has seen one.

I don't recall ever seeing a wooden silo before. I've seen plenty of other silos in my lifetime though. Kinda funny how something so ordinary can become something extraordinary in a different place and time.

It certainly looks like it's purpose was a silo. It would be interesting to see what the top of it looked like as the designer sure made an interesting invention.

Seems like Grandpa had a wooden silo in upstate NY but the boards were vertical. I think. That one you show is really neat looking.
