Kinda Like Christmas and Kindness

Even though the trees have been put back in their coffins till next year it still looks like Christmas every time you look outside.

Inside only the Nativity sets remain..today they will be retired to their boxes.  When the big tall tree went into the coffin..all the Shiny Brites didn’t fit. So off they went into the trunk. I will forget they are in there..so I wrote myself a note..saying “More can be found in the trunk!”and I threw that in the coffin.

I have been considering some thoughts to take into the New Year..some one word intentions..I think I have settled on “kindness.”  I will TRY to be kinder and more sensitive to other peoples needs. There are lots of dumb shits out there in the world..I should be kinder to them.

I thought about adding “eavesdropping” to the one word intention list..  Far Guy thought that if he was talking to someone on the phone and I was in the same room ..that I would know not only what he said but what the other person said too.  Like I am Wonder Woman with superior hearing.   Nope..eavesdropping did not make my list.  IF he thinks that I am going to eavesdrop on all his phone calls then he is nuts..oops..guess I should be kinder..he might be mistaken.

I thought about adding “patience”  and “communication”  to the list. Then I realized those are already things I try to practice everyday, but perhaps some other people I know would benefit from them..just a kind little idea of mine to share:)

  1. The 'one word' resolution must be the thing for the new year. I have heard others mention it on their blog. It's a good idea. I am fortunate if I can remember one thing so why add multiple resolutions to my brain?!!!
Your scenery is GORGEOUS. And I don't have to imagine how cold it is - - I can just step outside since we are close to freezing but then will be below freezing a couple days at least - - - - in the South!

  2. I like the idea of the one-word resolution. I've been pondering, haven't quite made the choice yet. Stay warm!

  3. I like to practice kindness by commenting on the blogs that I follow (as well as many other things on a daily basis) and...taking the time to respond to each and every comment that I receive.

My philosophy is, if someone is kind enough to follow and leave a comment then they warrant the same kindness extended to them!

    Have a great day!

My resolution for 2011 is to RIDE MORE! (And maybe HOUSEWORK LESS!) I'm into two word resolutions...

  8. Good chuckle today. I'm still workin' on our list. Yes, "our list", I don't like doing things alone, (and if we don't succeed it might not be all my fault). Dirt would like a "one word" list. He'd like even to use only one word to come up with the one word list.

Unfortunately for him I'm doing up the list, so there are lots and lots and lots of words and lots of words for words. And he has to do it with me.

I heard that a good "list" is one that is listed in the positive and not the negative. I think that is a great idea, removes that implication that I was all screwed up last year.

Ah your picture is so lovely, so bright and clear and lots of light, direct and reflected in the crystal clean snow....

  9. You are in fine humor on this brisk day. You have earned a full out guffaw. I am totally with you on the dumb shits thing. If the world was populated by people as smart as I am, there would be world peace, polite drivers, 4 day work weeks, and a chicken in every pot.

Kindness and patience are both good, for sure. Thanks for making me smile. :-)

  12. Kindness is a year round tradition in this household... especially on the female side of it. I'm all for that too except among those d.s. people who have fringed over into toxic. Then my resolution switches over from kindness into total avoidance. :)

  18. I love your one word resolutions for the year. I always try to come up with a theme for the year instead of actual resolutions - sometimes it works, sometimes not. We can all benefit for being more kind, hope the new year is kind back to you and yours :-)

  23. I just finished reading an article about the nature of people from Minnesota. It said that it is natural for Minnesotans to be kind to one another. I can't believe you would be any other way than that.
