Nativity

I have several Nativity sets…

This one I made years ago when I went to ceramics to express my artistic side.   These were done with a glaze and then they were sprayed with some kind of fixative and then painted with chalk.  I like the muted colors.  Far Guy made me the stable.  I think I made this Nativity set back in the early 1980’s.  It usually is placed on the fireplace mantle.

Hopefully I will get it put up today..it is one of my goals. My huge rummage sale angel is already there ..waiting. You may notice all the nails..they have been there for years..there are eleven of them..one for each stocking when the kids and grands are here.  The nails are only ever a problem when I dust..but then I smile when I think of all the stockings hung there on Christmas Eve.

This Nativity set is up. I bought it at an auction sale one day, I keep the auction slip packed away in its  storage box..2 dollars..it was a bargain..I have got my moneys worth years ago.. The letters are wood and beautiful painted, the figures are plaster of paris. It is always placed in the window ledge. I like to have the Nativity sets up first before all the other decorations.

Today I have a list of things to accomplish..we are finally decorating..but we still have time:)

Both of these nativity sets are beautiful - and like most items you have a story behind them! I found the shiny brites at Menards - they have plenty and they are on sale - Oh and I rec'd my little package special delivery via Mom --- thank you so much! I love it!

These are great nativity sets and it is fun to read their stories.

Far Side, you are ahead of me. So you can feel good about that. I'm extremely slothful this year in terms of decorations. The poor kids are going to start calling me Mommy Scrooge!

I love Nativity sets. Putting ours up each year is my very favorite thing to do in all of the decorating.

I love your Nativity Set!! I finally got one in 2008 after being married almost 40 years. My daughters hand painted a ceramic one....each doing a piece. I just love it!

Those are both beautiful. You definitely have artistic talent in your ability to use color. I did ceramics 1976-77 but I had to be told exactly which colors to use because that is not my gift.

We've got a full day today, lots of baking hopefully, a bit more decorating, Bet and I are way behind. But like you said, we have plenty of time. Back in the day, folks... well you know. We are headed up north with the buck bunny for Anna's doe that didn't kindle. Buggers. And to have dinner with our friends who stole her, Anna, not the bunny. Then Dirt has the next two weeks off! Yahoo!

I love your nativities, they are quite dear. And yes, the nativity is the first to go up here too. And what a mantle!

I can't imagine decorating for Christmas without putting out a nativity. Yours are really pretty.

My nativity is always my favorite decoration, too. I'm going to post a pic later tonight!
