Fireworks: Best Seat in the House!

We were very graciously invited into town for the fireworks..possibly to the best seat in the house on the river.  Gravy's place is right across from the area where the display is set to go off.  It was a great place..lots of elbow room and a place to park..a good time for me to practice photographing fireworks!  The bats began flying around at dusk.  We had lots of bats at the resort, they are harmless...some of the older ladies put their hats on..the old they will get caught in your hair thought. I used to sit on the edge of the bed and watch them fly out at dusk on warm summer nights so I am not afraid of them.
The fireworks show was awesome.  Here are a few of my best shots. In order to photograph fireworks you need a tripod and patience.  I tried counting and timing my shots..sometimes it worked..sometimes it didn't..my camera was pointed directly overhead.  The smell of gunpowder filled the air, the bats disappeared and the air turned a hazy blue, visible only in the light from the fireworks.

The concussions began to bother Far Guy toward the end..he was grateful when the show was over. The sounds of the trumpet playing Taps and then The Star Spangled Banner came from our friend Ray. The sweet musical notes carried over the water as a reminder that we are indeed the land of the free and the home of the brave.
We watched fireworks in the distance all the way home..and when we got home Chance refused to go outdoors, he is not a fan of loud popping noises.
This is my best Artsy Fartsy shot..I guess I am a bit strange..but this one really appeals to me:)

Glad you and Far Guy had a wonderful time. I don't blame Chance. Buddy really didn't care.

Those are great photo's. My favorite is the last one too. It looks like two spaceships coming in from another galaxy :) Very cool!

What great photos! Sounds like the perfect way to view fireworks. Where I am, it's tough to fight the crowds so since my son is "too old" for that now, we just watched the celebration from DC on TV, while he was at a party with his friends. (Two years ago we were there.) Taking photos of fireworks is a challenge--my mom used to do it--maybe I'll give it a "shot" sometime!!

And I just noticed the photo of Chance at the top, with the ear protection on! Adorable!!! (and such a great dog to put up with that!!)

Great pictures. Go look at the ones I posted, from sitting in front of the beach house, which would have been south of you.

Sounds like a wonderful way to enjoy fireworks and your photos are spectacular. I love the last one too. Kinda magical looking. Sorry to hear Far Guy had a tough time near the end. Harriet kept her head tucked under John's arm all evening. Thanks for sharing the pictures Connie.

Wow, are those photos gorgeous!!! I can only imagine how much fun you had with such a wonderful place to watch.

I read about the bats and I'm envious. All of Vermont's bats are dying with a disease and we don't see them any more. They do so much good on farms.

Anyway, just gorgeous photos and I enjoyed them.

I am soo glad you posted them. We don't go see the fireworks anymore, because there isn't to many around here that are good and the hubby usually doesn't like going and getting bit by the bugs so we stay home since the kids have been big enough.

It has taken ages for me to work out why so many of my American friends have posts about fireworks at the moment. Perhaps it says something that you let off fireworks to celebrate your independence and we let them off to celebrate a plot to blow up Parliament!

Connie, you did an awesome job with your pictures! Yes a tripod is for sure and I didn't bring mine this year. Wow, I love your pictures!
Your new blog template looks very nice. I so appreciate you stopping by to see how we are doing. Means so much!

I tried to get pictures of fireworks in the past, but I've failed every time. I love the last two especially! And I also like the new look, and will miss looking at Chance's ear protection, I've actually come over to look a couple of times, just to smile.

I think that last photo is very groovy. I like that you took photos of your fireworks, I've done it in the past, it makes them rather special.
