Chance: My Sisters

Yahoo..my turn again! Far Side says I should talk about my sisters, that way she won't get in trouble..and just between you and me they both love me so much that it would take an awful lot for me to be in trouble with them.
Both my sisters have boats, a real advantage when you live in Minnesota, which is the land of 10,000 lakes.
Better yet is when your sister lets you help navigate. This sister has the boys, and two dogs, both Shelties..Miney and Little Elvis and one cat named Chaucer..with a name like that you can bet that this one is the English Professor. She only has three more weeks until school starts again..that and she taught two summer school sessions..she is a really busy person and Far Side once heard her say "Hurry, hurry, quick, quick, quick ANDREW." She and Miney are the only girls in that house and sometimes I think they feel outnumbered, or maybe just a little stressed out from all the testosterone. I did make her mad once or twice, in my jumping up stage I managed to welcome her with muddy feet. I was just so happy to see her I could not contain myself, I am older and wiser now and realize that women wearing white pants and muddy paws don't mix.  How was I supposed to know, Far Side never wears white anything.
My oldest sister has the girls, who all adore me. They also have a Sheltie named Dakota who is old and grumpy. Far Side says I should be patient with her, because Dakota has had a stroke and has a thyroid problem. They have four cats at their house...I like to stalk cats..I am not sure what I would do if I caught one ( Far Side says it might not be pretty..so I am admonished to be nice...very very nice) They have Bailey, Luna, Ziggy and Skittles (One for each little girl plus an extra) . The kittens hiss and carry on something fierce when I show up, but they are getting more tolerant as they are getting older. Paige quoted her father one day " Dad said no more cats, three cats ago." This sister is a Nurse, she works in a clinic. When I was a pup, this sister used to sneak me bits of beef jerky...I will love her forever.

Just so you know, Far Side took lots of photos of them..she won't share them all..especially not the eye rolling ones and probably not the one where one of them was sticking out her tongue at Far Side..but here is one  from our day on the water.

This one Far Side calls "My Grumpy Girls."  Do you suppose that they have been irritated once again by our Mother and her camera? :)

  4. Our Little Dog could have told you a story or two about just how not pretty it is if you get too close to a grumpy cat. Your story about the Sheltie reminds me of the Sheltie I used to see every week when I cleaned house for a family. It was so excited to see me it would run around me circles... around and around and around and bark hysterically. I don't think it got enough exercise.

  6. Chance it is a doggie thing to get excited to see people and want to jump up on them to get closer to their heart. My collie dog did that the day of our wedding at the outdoor reception. The only problem was he had muddy feet, too, and jumped on my new father-in-law's light-colored suit. Oh my.

  7. I can see those beautiful clouds in the Minnesota sky that it is a beautiful day. Barney and Button were stuck in the air conditioned house all day so they have been asking to go outside every half hour, just because they can. I hope you enjoy the water as it looks like you can always just ride in the boats. Take care buddy and keep cool.

  9. Crum that looks like fun, wind blowing through your hair, and you got lots! Stalking cats eh? You sound like our first BC, Peep (as in Lil' Bo Peep and yes, we have one named Bo, he is still alive, barely). When Peep first came to us as a puppy to live here at the farm and be a sheep herder she would round up all the cats into one apple tree, it was amazing to see her accomplish that we have about ten in the same orchard for them to have been in. Sometimes when we had lots of guests over, we would find ourselves all bunched in one area of the yard, sure nuff, look around and there was Peep, slowly getting all the people to move together. She taught Dirt how to use a sheep dog. We miss her sumpin fierce. That's one reason I really like your posts. It reminds me of her. Her husband Bo and their kids Patty (as in Nick Nack Patty Whack, yes, we kept Nick but he has since died too) well, they just aren't as smart as she was or quite as pretty, though my girls, human kind, always prefered Bo's ear set over hers. Me, not so much, I love Peep, she was a gift from God. Really.

  14. Watch the cat stalking--hehe! Don't corner them or they can leave marks! What a great family--even if they get annoyed with the camera sometimes. Lakes and boating--ahh! Now that's Minnesota! :)
