Wistful Wednesday: Easter 1959

Well look at this one, my brother has eggs coming out of his head! This photo is 50 years old! I loved those shoes! My dress was light pink, my Mom had sewed my dress and my coat for me.. I believe the coat was bird egg blue. This photo was taken by my Mother. We were in the big old kitchen at the farm, right in front of the door that led upstairs. I had totally forgotten that the chairs had those rubbery protectors on them so that there would not be little circles poked into the linoleum floors by the chairs. These are the same chairs that we spent a whole hour in after church if we did not sit still during the service. Easter must have been in March that year..someones beautiful artwork is covering up part of the calendar:)

I sure love those old pictures. Just look at your curly hair...had to use bobby pins, I bet? I had those super short bangs too! We could have been sisters. :-D

Old photos just say so much. I love to look at old stuff especially photos or old buildings. I wish I could just hear what was happening in the lives of those. Thanks for sharing your old photograph. I remember those shoes.

Connie, this is an adorable picture. Those are the oxfords that I wore growing up cause my feet were so narrow. I had them in every color! Your hair is so perky in this photo and your brother is so sweet. Those chairs remind me of the kitchen table set we grew up with too. Happy Easter to you all. God bless.

Easter frocks, I love them. Beautiful spring coats, little purses, a new hat. I love that most mom's knew how to sew real clothes just a generation ago. Your shoes are the kind I wore every day to school, it was part of our uniform, by the time I was in high school I missed them.

When I was 10 in 1959 we got bunnies for Easter. REAL bunnies. My brother was 7, I loved my bunny, my brother just thought they were lots of work. Today he lives in Denver as a Psycologist and I live (love) on a farm. Seems the dye was set all those years ago.

Connie, That's very cute. Your mother was probably very proud of that coat. I would be.
What did we call those shoes...was it saddle oxfords? I always wanted a pair of those and never got them.:( I also wanted a pair of Go-Go boots and I didn't get those either. You were in style!
