The New Year

I kinda like the New Year's Holiday. I don't have to shop, clean, cook or act perfect. I am not required to be anywhere or do anything. I can just be me, it is rather freeing. This morning as I thought of it, I felt like a Meryl Streep follower in the movie Mama Mia..yup that would be me a Dancing Queen! Perhaps that is the approach I should take for the entire year of 2009. Forget making resolutions, what do they do for you anyway, other than a wonderful feeling if you do accomplish them. What if you are an underachiever this year, then you have to carry the quilt of not meeting or even addressing your stupid resolutions. What if you are so busy taking care of other people in your life, that you don't accomplish a darn thing. How about some one word intentions ..Like mine! Laugh, Smile, Hug, and Dance. Easy to remember, easy to do, I can have that accomplished a few seconds after midnight, and be free the rest of the year. Easy..peasy! 2008 in Review The children are all employed, and reasonably healthy. Trica our oldest daughter still struggles with Pancreatitis. We still struggle with Doctors and Far Guys Trigeminal Neuralgia. No new Grand-babies..No divorces..a few deaths (two cousins and a very dear friend) No new pets, and no pet deaths. Biggest Adjustment..Far Guy's Trigeminal Neuralgia and how it affects our day to day life. Biggest Change..Closing the Greenhouse business, a very wise decision. I miss it, but I am getting over it. Biggest Frustration.. Doctors that don't know their butt from a hole in the ground, and the phone ringing. Happiest Moment..a very nostalgic Ferris Wheel Ride last August with Far Guy. Playing a little "kissy face" stopped at the top! My New Motto For 2009 : One day at a time ..with a little dancing! :)

Another wonderful post. Live, love, laugh. And then throw in some dancing.I really like the 2008 in review.

I am not big on NY's resolutions. Just live your life as best as you can. Be joyful! There that's my motto for 2009. Thanks!

Oh that and get my Adobe Elements working again. Something there needs a resolution, or a good swift kick. And I need that program for my business.
Looking forward....

Funny... another classic line: doctors don't know their butt from a hole in the ground. You crack me up lady!

As for behaving yourself - that's not really my picture of you.

I don't make resolutions anyway.. but be kind, happy. Love. Dance. Sing. Reach for the stars... They would all do me fine.

I can never hold to new year resolutions either. Maybe for a week or two but then back to my old ways. I love your one word ideas though. That works for me!
Have a Happy New Year with Chance and Far Guy!

Add one more one word intention...Sing
It makes you feel good and an extra benefit is that it drives everybody else crazy.

A guy is standing in line, waiting to get into Heaven, and another guy in a white lab coat with a stethoscope around his neck breezes right past him to the front of the line and goes straight in.

"What the heck?" the first guy says to St. Peter. "Why do doctors get to go straight in?"

"Oh, that's not a doctor," says St. Peter. "That's God. He just likes to play doctor."

This is my favorite doctor joke. (And considerably less rude than my favorite lawyer joke.)

Have a wonderful 2009. I count you, and your blog, as one of my best finds of 2008!

okay, maybe I should rent the movie--I heard it wasn't any good---then I heard it was. Sounds like overall you had a pretty good year. Here's hoping Far Guy does better this coming year

Dancing! Yes...always dance! It's good for so many things in life!
NY resolutions have never been my cuppa tea. Each Dec 31, I just erase the slate in my head of "unfishisheds" and it feels good to waken Jan 1 knowing my mind is free of the previous year! It is the day I start my Gardening...in my mind! A new beginning for new life!
Have a wonderful New Year full of many happy times and beautiful blessings!

You are so right that New Year's is for the most part one of those stress-free holidays -- unless the party's at your house, that is. Love the idea for one-word "resolutions." Thanks for sharing.

Doctor's butts? Hmm... So...does that mean my research was helpful or not?

You're so organized, Far--you're already talking about New Year's? WAY ahead of schedule!

Yes, by all means let's DANCE! How can we not? God gives us SO MUCH!

I might be over for a hug or two...

I have to see that movie!!! Yes, Dance, Sing, Laugh, Enjoy! I never make resolutions, except to better myself each year. Don't know if it's working but it makes me feel good to say it once a year, anyway!

Happy New Year!
