Peace Garden Friend

Adventures! I love them! Nothing is better than having a good adventure. We headed to Fargo to the Barnes and Noble Bookstore where one of my online friends was holding a book signing. She was part of an Altrusa Club Project that will supply books to Habitat for Humanity Homes. A worthy cause. She is a Children's Author.

I met her online, through many emails and comments on each others blogs we became friends. It was my honor and privilege to meet this marvelous young woman, mother and writer in person. She introduced us to one her daughters, and we introduced her to one of ours. Sure there are twenty-five years separating these girls ages, but in a friendship you share..we share a common bond..being women and mothers. I truly enjoyed meeting her "little brown eyed girl" she smiles with her eyes just like her Mom!

Sometimes you never can tell how these meetings will go. Will I like her in person? Will she like me? Well if you stay real to yourself..and real to your readers it is easy..you don't have to "put on the dog" to make yourself better. You are already as good as it gets, improving little by little everyday, by the people you meet and the friends you make. My wonderful Son In Law did accuse me of "getting all gussied up." He knows me well and knows that I don't usually wear makeup ..except for really special occasions. Well, meeting a friend for the first time is a special occasion!

The Book: "P is for Peace Garden, A North Dakota Alphabet" is a treasure and will join my children's classics. I read it to Far Guy on our way home. We both learned things about North Dakota from the book. I highly recommend this book if you are a parent or grandparent that enjoys reading to children. You can visit Peace Garden Mama's Blog to read more about her, or visit her here to order a signed copy of her book. Tell her Far Side sent ya. :)

Sounds lovely. How nice for you two to meet, and get to spend some time together. It is kind of like meeting a pen pal after many years isn't it?

How cool! I love when I get the chance to meet my online friends. So far they have been exactly the people I have come to know. It's kind of a weird thing to finally meet someone in person and feel so close to them within minutes!

Peace Garden Mama here,
Far Side is as neat a person in person as online. :) Now I can say that with conviction. And it wasn't too weird at all. Maybe that's what's weird about it -- that it wasn't weird. :)

Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely have to look at the book as it is my philosophy that you just can't have too many books! (or earrings for that matter..)

How fun to go meet in person. :) You know, for the last few years I have wanted to visit Fargo, now I know there's a book store waiting for me there. :)

Since I have five days off I missed lots of your posts, but I backed up and read them anyway! :)

Thanks for the new blog to visit! And I love the bone story and Chance's post on your blog. Aren't dogs just the best.

Then....that photo at the end of the first page WOW! The colors are wonderful, all my favorite colors wrapped into one shot!

I have still not met a "blog" friend, but I see that some of our new acquaintances are coming from closer to home. It would be great fun! And congratulations on getting "gussied up", it feels kind of good, doesn't it?
